When it's 60 degrees and clear blue sky days, there is really only one thing that can come of it. The celebration of Gapers! The colors come out, the shorts, the jeans, shirtless men, and sometimes almost women, all come out! It is a wonderful time full of mashed potato snow and maybe some drinks. What's important is that we still get out there and have some fun and enjoy the begining of spring as the winter goes into it's slumber. Gotta love it!

SUNSCREEN!!!
Oh MY GOODNESS!!
The sun is out, and the snow is melting... but this fact hasn't been keeping many of us off of the hill. What it HAS done however is fried the faces of countless tourists and locals alike that I have seen. Walking around it looks like there is a lobster clan climbing off the mountain... So even though it is "only march" don't forget that sunscreen if your not trying to get your skin nuked while your out on the hill.
This Public Service Announcement brought to…

Closing day?
Its, hard to believe only three weeks ago we were shredding chest deep pow and here we are in late march just weeks away from closing day and the snow is melting... FAST. Does anybody else have doubts about the snow at the base of the mountian lasting all the way to april 15.. I am skeptical. The weather this week says steamboat will being be in temps from the 50-60's all week. Hopefully the snow can make it till then.. what will steamboat do otherwise?

Having no snow almost came as a blessing on March 17th when the day couldn't have been more beautiful. If we don't have epic powder the next best thing is having the sun out, a pocket full of beers and good friends to shred the slush with. This was the case for last weekend's st. patty's day! It was a georgous day and spent celebrating like a true irish woman: drinking and laughing. It was one day to remember and now I am ready for some more snow!!

Steamboat Powder Cats Is Awesome!
So, I just had one of the better days snowboarding this year. I got the opportunity to go on Steamboat Powder Cats up on Buff pass. What a great operation they have going. They pick you up from your condo, for me I work next door so i just walked over. They have breakfeast layed out. Then they shuttle you up to the cats and start skiing. You do your line and end up at the cat road and the cat is there waiting to take you back to the top for another run. We go 17 runs in. It was a BLAST!…

A Little Reminder of What to Look Forward To...
Ahhh Springtime, Where mud and slush abound. I thought that I would post a little POV reminder of why we all go out in search of that epic pow line day in and day out during the season. With all this warm weather powder runs look to be a thing of the past for this year, but hopefully this will bring the warm fuzzies out in your stomache from that last epic run you took up there on the mountain.…

So Steamboat is once again not the place to go. As sad as it is for the ski season it is definitely spring in Steamboat. You can see the dirt at the top of the hill. On the plus side it is amazingly gorgeous out and who could hate spring skiing? All that slush and mashed potatoes, yum! I love to just wear a bandana and mob all day. As far as other places to go, Utah was just as bad last week while I was there. It’s still stunningly beautiful with the sun out and the crystal blue skies. Aww.…

Spring Skiing
It is officially spring here is Steamboat. The last week has posted temps in the mid fifties. I don't know about anyone else, but I love skiing in the spring. Its warm and sunny, everyone is happy. People are out working on goggle tans and just enjoying being out side. Corn snow and girls skiing in tank tops count me in.
But will this weather last check out NOAA's forecast for the next week.…

Fun in the Sun??
Well, here we are... a couple of weeks into march and while these 50 degree days are welcomed by some, im sure that the snow community had other ideas about what would make march epic this year. However, since I know that Steamboat isn't the only place feeling some dissention for the warm weather check out this article with ideas on how to cope with our limited snow conditions...…

POW! That Feels Nice
Winter has been in full swing during the month of February, and especially in the past few days, the snow conditions are great. Now into the month of March, how long will the snowy weather last? Check that weather report before you head out on the mountain or in the backcountry, you might need your spring break "Tee"…
